Huawei is struggling to break out of the encirclement of the new US ban this year that has affected its high-end kirin chips.
On August 7, Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business, said at the China Information technology 100 Summit in 2020 that a new generation of flagship Mate 40 will be released this fall and will be carried with Huawei’s own Kirin chip.
However, Yu admitted: “Due to the second round of sanctions, the production of the chip will be closed after September 15th, which may be the last generation of Kirin’s high-end chip, in another word, out of print. Now, the domestic semiconductor technology has not caught up to manage to continue.
