Is Microsoft ready to cut off supply to China? On August 9th, Rumors circulated on Chinese social media that Microsoft has updated the service agreement on its official website, stating that it will not assume any responsibility or obligation if force majeure causes Microsoft to be unable to fulfill or delay its obligations. Some even read that Microsoft had recently urgently revised the agreement, hinting that if the US government issued an injunction against Microsoft, the company could cut its supply to China without offering any compensation.
In response, Microsoft said in a statement on August 10th, “Recent rumors about a global update to Microsoft’s terms of Service by some individual social media outlets are untrue. Our commitment to providing services to Chinese users is unwavering”.
